Barclays

Barclays supports Shelter’s Ricochet project, which gives young people in Rotherham who have experienced homelessness the opportunity to gain work experience and qualifications by training them as Peer Educators.
Peer Educators then use their experiences to work with schools, children’s homes and youth centres in Rotherham to raise awareness among children and young people of issues surrounding homelessness and living alone.
Barclays and Shelter feel passionately about empowering young people so that they can achieve their true potential. Barclays has chosen to support this project because of the invaluable skills and experience the peer educator gains to help them in their search for stable employment. Last year 75 per cent of those starting the project received a BTEC qualification.
The project was very proud to be short-listed for a Community Achievement Award, organised by Voluntary Action Rotherham and Rotherham Partnership.
Debbie Phillips, Associate Director in the Global Community Investment team at Barclays says;
'I’m delighted that Barclays is able to continue working with Shelter to fund this vital project for a third year.
'Ricochet is a great programme that delivers a wide range of benefits to the local community and complements the current range of programmes that we support to help homeless people lead financially secure and independent lives.'
