Berkeley Group

Shelter is delighted to announce our three-year partnership with Berkeley Group, the award-
winning British housebuilders.

The Berkeley Foundation was launched in 2011 with the overarching aim to ‘improve the lives of young people, their families and communities’.

Their work with Shelter is one of two major partnerships launched by the Foundation so far.

The Berkeley Foundation will be supporting four key Shelter services:

  • Shelter’s telephone advice helpline, (through which 20 per cent of all calls taken are young people seeking advice)
  • Shelter’s advice for young people web pages
  • a housing adviser post at Shelter’s South London advice service.  20 per cent of clients seen at the centre are young people.
  • an innovative research project, exploring the opportunity to engage young people as volunteers in helping Shelter reach clients with advice through our shop network.

In the media

The partnership was launched publicly in November 2011, with a joint interview with Berkeley Group's Managing Director Rob Perrins and Shelter’s Chief Executive Campbell Robb, which featured in Bricks and Mortar (Times supplement) as part of their ‘Autumn statement: the truth behind the headlines’ cover story.

Employee engagement

Teams from the Berkeley Group are taking part in Shelter events including Vertical Rush London and the 2012 London Marathon.

Berkeley Group launched Wardrobe Relief in support of Shelter at 10 of their sites, extending support to our shops which are always in desperate need of stock to sell and generate vital funds for Shelter’s work.

A huge thank you to the Berkeley Group for their support - we're looking forward to working together over the next three years.
