RIBA
2008 marks the twelfth year of Shelter's partnership with the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA).
Our shared values
The RIBA and Shelter share many values, particularly the conviction that good design is fundamental to good housing. These common beliefs are the cornerstone of our successful partnership.
About the partnership
The RIBA, a not-for-profit-organisation, supports Shelter through activities and events, in particular through its Architect in the House scheme.
Architect in the House offers you an hour-long consultation with an RIBA chartered architect, who is giving their time in exchange for a suggested donation of £40 to Shelter, the housing and homelessness charity. It's the perfect opportunity to speak to an expert about bringing your idea to life and creating the space you have always wanted.
Hundreds of architects give their time each year to support this scheme, Shelter wishes to thank everyone who takes part to raise well needed funds.
Raising awareness
Over the past twelve years, this partnership has raised more than £700,000 for homeless and badly housed people, with Architect in the House 2007 raising £75k alone as well as generating huge public awareness for RIBA and Shelter.
In addition, thousands of people have been introduced to the benefits of commissioning an architect.
