Shoosmiths

Shelter was chosen by commercial law firm Shoosmiths as their Charity of the Year for 2008 to 2010.

Shoosmiths has already raised £100,000 for Shelter since the partnership’s inception, helping pay for the charity’s emergency Hardship Fund.

The partnership has seen a mixture of employee fundraising and corporate donations. Shoosmiths’ finest have completed numerous adventurous activities including:

  • a trek in Borneo
  • both the 2009 and 2010 London Marathons
  • a Strictly Come Dancing competition
  • numerous office fundraisers – including Shelter’s Vertical Rush tower-running event in 2010.

The law firm – its staff, families and friends - has even put together a recipe book. Firm Favourites, packed with tried and tested treats, makes a great gift with all proceeds going to Shelter.

Shelter’s Director of Fundraising Louise Parkes said: 'The partnership gives us a greater understanding of the way law firms like Shoosmiths work and this is very helpful when we work with our clients. We are very grateful to Shoosmiths and its staff for raising money for the Hardship Fund which really benefits people at the sharp end of the recession.'

Shoosmiths hopes to raise a further £20,000 by the end of the partnership in April 2010.

"Our partnership with Shelter really highlights how two very different organisations can come together and will be able to work for the benefit of both our client groups. The alliance that has been forged means we will also both have a much better understanding of the way each other works and this can only benefit everyone."
