Eco-towns
Shelter is producing a series of information leaflets that examine the housing situation in and around seven of the proposed eco-town sites.

The leaflets explain what an eco-town is, and assess the impact that the proposed number of homes could have in each area.

Make your voice heard
Shelter is encouraging local people to make their voices heard in the eco-town consultations. Everyone, including those affected by the lack of affordable housing, should get involved in the consultation process on the plans to ensure local housing needs are fully discussed.
Shelter chief executive Adam Sampson says: ‘We hope these booklets spell out exactly what the extent of the housing problem is, and highlight why we think the proposed eco-town, or other developments of a similar scale, could help to address this need if planned properly through local consultation.’
‘Shelter understands people have concerns about aspects of the proposed eco-towns that we do not fully address in these booklets, including transport and infrastructure issues, and use of greenfield sites.
‘However, we hope that by participating in the public consultation people will be able to raise their concerns and help shape the way the proposed eco-towns might look.’
