Introduction to Benefit rates 2011/12

This section looks at figures used to calculate applicable amounts, treatment of capital, disregards and deductions relevant to a claimant for the calculation of her/his entitlement to housing benefit in the year 2011/12.

These figures came into effect on:

  • Friday 1 April 2011: where rent is payable monthly or at any interval which is not a week or multiples of a week
  • Monday 4 April 2011: where rent is payable at intervals of a week or multiples of a week.

Detailed guidance from the Department for Work and Pensions on the 2011 uprating is contained in HB/CTB Circular A26/2010.

The 2011 uprating for the other income related benefits - Income Support (IS), income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA(IB)), income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA(IR)) and State Pension Credit (PC) - and the majority of other social security benefits took effect on Monday 11 April 2011.
