Introduction to benefit rates 2014/15

This content applies to England

Figures used to calculate applicable amounts, treatment of capital, disregards and deductions relevant to a claimant for the calculation of her/his entitlement to housing benefit in the year 2014/15.

These figures come into effect as follows:

  • Tuesday 1 April 2014 - where rent is payable monthly or at any interval which is not a week or multiples of a week
  • Monday 7 April 2014 - where rent is payable at intervals of a week or multiples of a week.

Detailed guidance from the Department for Work and Pensions on the 2014-15 uprating is contained in HB Circular A24/2013 (REVISED).

The 2014 uprating for the other income related benefits - Income Support (IS), income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA(IB)), income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA(IR)) and the majority of other social security benefits take effect on Monday 7 April 2014.

From 15 April 2013, a benefit cap has been introduced. This limits the total amount of benefit that working age claimants can receive. For more information on the benefit cap see the page on Calculation overview.
