Since Shelter became DTZ’s corporate charity partner in September 2008, the company's employees have raised an amazing £50,000 towards our work with people in housing need.

With the current recession many more people are losing their homes through repossession and the demand for Shelter’s services is increasing rapidly:

  • 1 in 7 children (1.3m) in Britain are currently growing up homeless or in bad housing
  • In 2008, Shelter experienced a year on year increase of 460% in calls to our Helpline
  • Currently, a house is repossessed every 8 minutes
  • 1.9 million people are currently on council house waiting lists throughout the UK

Sam Younger, Interim Chief Executive of Shelter said: 'We are thrilled that DTZ has raised over £50,000 for Shelter and look forward to working with them over the coming months to increase this amount.

'The money they raise through running marathons and taking part in Shelter's tower-running event Vertical Rush, and also less strenuous initiatives including dress-down days and even growing facial hair will make a massive difference to our work alleviating the distress caused by homelessness and bad housing.'
