New figures released today show repossessions have increased 23 per cent from the previous quarter and 50 per cent from the same period last year.

The law is to be changed to protect private tenants who face sudden homelessness when their landlord is repossessed. Shelter has welcomed the news, but warned that there must be no delay in introducing this protection.
