Minister opens Chatham Housing Advice Centre

Regional Minister for the South East, Jonathan Shaw MP, met with Shelter clients and advisors when he re-opened the charity's Housing Advice Centre in Chatham today.

Low-cost homes pledged

Boris Johnson, the Conservative candidate for London mayor, launched his housing mainfesto today. Shelter welcomed his emphasis on affordable housing, but criticised his failure to set a target for social rented housing.

Mixed reception for budget

Shelter has given a mixed reception to Chancellor Alistair Darling's first budget. Chief executive Adam Sampson welcomed measures to end child poverty, but criticised the Government for failing to 'stave off the growing repossession crisis'.

A special Easter service
