Nationwide staff dig deep for Shelter
9 August 2013
Nationwide Building Society staff in the South have been busy holding summer fêtes, tombolas and more as part of the ‘Shelter Cup’, a series of activities to raise money for Shelter.
Nationwide have been working in partnership with Shelter since 2000, aiming to positively influence the housing sector whilst being a voice for those facing bad housing and homelessness.
They have recently renewed the partnership, pledging £1 million for Shelter’s vital work.
As part of the partnership, Shelter are aiming to help 16,000 people find and keep a home over the next five years, through both our housing advice helpline and our services in Sheffield and Birmingham.
The Nationwide strategy will be key to funding this work. Any fundraising undertaken by their employees contributes to the £1 million fund, helping Shelter to reach those suffering with housing difficulties and offer them the support they need.
The Nationwide team in the South have a fun-filled programme of activities planned, from a branch-wide quiz to a challenging trek! This week alone, staff and customers at Weston-super-Mare took part in a tombola, London’s Threadneedle Street branch held a raffle, Fareham pioneered sponsored leg waxing and staff at Aylesbury showed off their baking skills at a cake sale.
Together, the teams have raised more than £14,000, with more money still coming in.
Shelter would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone involved!
