Pam's appeal to churches
01 December 2008

TV Presenter Pam Rhodes is calling on all Christians to hold special services in aid of our work with homeless and badly housed families this Christmas.
We have put together a new pack this year to help local churches plan their own service. It contains free ideas and worship materials for a carol or nativity service, exploring the theme of homelessness and its links to the Christmas story.

Suggested prayers and hymns are included, along with cut-out nativity figures to inspire younger members of the congregation.
Pam Rhodes said: ‘For most of us, Christmas is a chance to spend quality time at home with friends and family.
‘Sadly, more than one million children will wake up on Christmas morning in a place they can’t call home. They are trapped in conditions that are overcrowded, squalid or dangerous, which damages not only their education but their health as well.
‘This year, you can make a difference by getting into the festive spirit and rallying your congregation to organise special services and collections to raise funds for Shelter.
‘Your contribution will go a long way to help those in desperate need find a safe and permanent home they can call their home.’
