Stars shine for Shelter at XFM gig

14 December 2007

Tim Burgess of the Charlatans was one of many artists who showed support at XFM Winter Wonderland this year when he described Shelter as 'a charity that's very near to our hearts'.

The Charlatans headlined Winter Wonderland in Manchester, where Burgess dedicated "you're so pretty, we're so pretty" to Shelter . Other gigs were held in London, Glasgow and Cardiff.

For the fifth year running, the tour was a great success, with Shelter looking set to receive more than £50,000 after sell-out performances in every town.

The series of gigs kicked off in style to a huge crowd in Brixton Academy on Sunday 9 December. Scroobius Pip and Dan Le Sac were surprise special guests, adding some dirty hip hop to an indie line up including Kate Nash, Supergrass and Jack Penate.

Bloc Party headlined and saved the best for last when they dedicated their encore song 'Helicopter' to Shelter.

The other gigs featured such big name headline acts as The Twang, Stereophonics, The Enemy, Super Furry Animals, Ting Tings and The Cribs.

Shelter would like to thank XFM and all the bands that took part for making it a huge success.
