A special Easter service

01 May 2008

Diane Louise Jordan

TV Presenter Diane-Louise Jordan is calling on all Christians this Easter to hold special services in aid of Shelter's work with homeless and badly housed families.

Shelter has put together a new pack of ideas called 'New beginnings' designed to help local churches plan their own service. The pack contains free service ideas and worship materials for all ages, as well as thought-provoking hymns and prayers to help churches plan an Easter service.

Diane said, 'For most of us, Easter is a chance to celebrate new life and make a fresh start. However, in your community, many families are homeless, trapped in temporary accommodation or stuck in overcrowded or dangerous conditions. For them, the chance of finding a decent home is a distant dream.

'But you can make a difference, by getting your local Church to organise a special service and collection to raise funds for Shelter this Easter. Your church's contribution will help those in desperate need find a safe and permanent home they can call their own.'

To get a copy of Shelter's free 'New Beginnings' service pack or for more information, please visit the churches pages, call 0300 330 0516 or email churches@shelter.org.uk.

If you would like to raise money for Shelter in another place of worship or in your workplace, school or community group, please call 0300 330 0516.
