Ilena Day, winner of the Social Inclusion award, with Lord Herman Ouseley

Winners of the 2010 SMK Campaigner awards were announced yesterday in a ceremony hosted by broadcaster Jon Snow.

The Sheila McKechnie Foundation (SMK) is dedicated to connecting, informing and supporting campaigners.

The awards are supported by a range of organisations, including Shelter, and recognise the outstanding contribution that campaigners make towards achieving social, environmental and economic justice.

Shelter sponsored the Social Inclusion Award, won by Ilena Day. Ilena (pictured, with Lord Herman Ouseley) is working with young people to provide support for those struggling with depression in Scotland.
