Your location: Young runaways
Shelter has worked closely with The Children's Society and other organisations to consult young people and care workers, to identify issues around running away from care and to highlight examples of good practice that have been implemented to address these issues.
Following this, Shelter has produced a good practice guide, 'Safe and well?', aimed at care workers and foster carers working with young people in care. It includes:
- background information about running away
- issues faced by young people and care workers
- examples of good practice in residential settings and foster care where measures have been implemented
- contacts and sources of further information and support for workers.
