Response - The private rented sector: professionalism and quality
By: Thomas Crawshaw Published: August 2009
Shelter strongly welcomes the proposals in this consultation paper to help improve standards and professionalism in the private rented sector (PRS). This is timely given the rapid growth in the sector and high levels of inexperienced landlords.
Summary
However, in our view a much broader vision of the PRS needs to be developed by the Government which goes further in tackling poor property conditions, provides greater security of tenure, addresses PRS affordability issues and tackles the complex legal framework for housing.
