Homelessness Prevention and the Private Rented Sector

With owner-occupation beyond the reach of many and social rented housing in such short supply, the private rented sector is an increasingly important source of housing. In recent years, initiatives have been developed to make greater use of the sector in preventing homelessness. The result has been a major change to the way in which local authorities deliver their homelessness services. This briefing examines the use of the private rented sector as part of a wider approach to preventing homelessness.
