This research briefing is the second in a series of papers that assesses the economic impacts of public investment in housing. Housing Investment Part 2 sets out how investment in housing can support local economic growth through housing affordability and place competitiveness.

Summary

With the proposed powers set out in the Localism Bill, this briefing highlights the requirement for local authorities and Local Enterprise Partnerships to consider the strategic role of housing in supporting the local economy when developing their policies on the scale and composition of the local supply of housing.
