A comprehensive introduction to the law relating to accommodation issues that affect Gypsies and Travellers.
Course contains
- Planning law as it relates to Gypsies and Travellers, including applications, appeals, enforcement action and injunctions
- Security of tenure on official sites
- Evictions from unauthorised encampments including substantive defences and public law challenges
- Homelessness law as it relates to Gypsies and Travellers
Learning outcomes
After this course, you will be able to:
- Understand the main accommodation issues facing Gypsies and Travellers in England and Wales
- Identify the means of linking up legal issues across topics, eg article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights.
Suitable for
Solicitors, advisers and other professionals and support workers working with Gypsies and Travellers; local authority workers involved in Gypsy and Traveller issues. Gypsies and Travellers interested in the law relating to accommodation issues. No prior knowledge of the legislation is needed.
