Homelessness: Update
Course location:
This course will provide experienced practitioners with an update on case law and other developments regarding homelessness and allocations.
Course contains
Recent case law legislative developments in the following areas:
- Prevention of homelessness
- Eligibility for assistance
- Vulnerability
- Intentional homelessness
- Discharge of duties / suitability of accommodation
- Local connection
- Reviews and appeals
- Links with the Children Acts and community care provision.
Learning outcomes
After this course, you will be able to:
- Take account of actual or impending changes in legislation or regulation
- Identify current legal and policy issues affecting homeless persons and those in housing need
- Examine the impact of recent case law.
Suitable for
Housing advisers and caseworkers, lawyers, housing and homelessness officers, other local authority staff and managers who have a good working knowledge of housing law and practice.
