Tenancy Law: Intermediate
Course location:
This course builds on the Security of Tenure: Introductory course by examining further issues that commonly arise in landlord and tenant law. Delegates will become familiar with the law governing the transfer of different types of tenancy during the tenant’s lifetime and on death, and will look in detail at the introductory tenancy and demoted tenancy regimes.

- Tenants’ charter rights
- Introductory tenancies under the Housing Act 1996
- Tenancy Demotion
- Family Intervention Tenancies.
Learning outcomes
After this course, you will be able to:
- Identify and advise on assignment and succession rights of different types of tenancy
- Describe the rent control mechanisms applying to Rent Act and assured/assured shorthold tenancies
- Advise introductory and demoted tenants about possession proceedings and defences.
