Welfare Benefits: Refresher
Course location:
A refresher of the different benefit and tax credit rules for advisers who have had some previous welfare rights training.
Course contains
- An update of recent changes
- Reminders of the different benefits
- Reminders of the conditions of entitlement for benefits
- Reminders of the calculations
- Opportunities to discuss aspects of the system you are uncertain about
Learning outcomes
After this course, you will be able to:
- Understand what benefits are now available, how they have changed and how people qualify for them
- Assess how different benefits fit together and the impact on each other
- Identify the common problems faced by claimants and some of the ways to help them
- Understand what help is available when claimants start work and problems they may face.
Suitable for
Advisers who need to refresh their benefits knowledge or who have basic knowledge but feel out of practice. Also suitable for those who had some training in the last couple of years but who have not been on an update course or have done little or no benefits work since then.
Note
The course is not suitable for advisers who have had little or no prior welfare benefits training or experience - those advisers should attend our introductory course. Advisers who have considerable benefits experience or who want to learn about the latest benefit news and changes should attend our update course instead.
