Disability Equality Duty and Housing

This course will provide delegates with a good working knowledge of the duties placed on social housing providers. Delegates will gain the confidence and experience to effectively manage their responsibilities under equality legislation.

- Understanding your responsibilities under the Disability Discrimination Act 2005
- The Disability Equality Duty
- Working through the five stages to implement the duty
- Undertaking impact assessments and preventing potential challenges
- Building the duty into services
- The enabling role: housing strategy, homelessness and housing advice
- Monitoring, reporting, evaulating and strategic planning.
Suitable for
All social housing managers, housing policy officers, tenants representatives, board members, equality and diversity officers and equality champions. Please note that some understanding of equality legislation is required. People new to equality and diversity should instead attend the Effective Administration of Equality and Diversity course.
