How we will support you:

  • Fundraising support, advice and tips to make meeting your target as easy as possible
  • A training guide
  • A fantastic adidas/Shelter running vest to show your colours on the day
  • A free cheerer's T-shirt for each of your supporters
  • A post- race reception where you can enjoy a much-needed massage and refreshments - relax with friends and family and celebrate your amazing achievement

How much do I have to raise?

For a guaranteed Shelter place, the minimum sponsorship is £350 including a £50 registration fee.  If you have your own place, there is no minimum fundraising target, we just ask that you raise as much as you can.

About the race:

The first ever Great North Run was held in June 1981 with 12,000 participants. Since then, it has grown year on year to become the world's most popular half marathon with 52,000 participants in 2008.

The course takes you through central Newcastle to the finish line on the scenic coastline at South Shields. The streets of Newcastle will be lined with cheering spectators, adding to the great atmosphere on the day.
