Virgin London Marathon 2010
- Race date: Sun 25 April 2010
- Distance: 26.2 miles
- Sponsorship required: No minimum for own-place runners
All our charity places are taken in the Virgin London Marathon now, but if you have your own place in the race, you're very welcome to join the Shelter team!
You will enjoy all the same benefits as our charity place runners, with the difference that there is no minimum sponsorship requirement - we just ask that you raise as much as you can. (If you don't have your own place for the marathon, why not take a look at our other races?)
How we will support you:
Run for Shelter and you will be supported from start to finish. We offer:
- a training plan from a top running coach with personal email support
- an adidas running vest
- free cheerers' t-shirts for all your supporters
- fundraising advice and support to maximise your potential
- a chance to meet other Shelter runners at our Christmas drinks party
- a massive after race party where you can relax, refuel, refresh and rub down
How much do I need to raise?
If you have your own place you're welcome on the team and there's no minimum sponsorship amount; all we ask is that you raise as much as you can.
About the race
Now in its 29th year, the legendary London Marathon is as popular with amateur runners as it is with world class professionals. It's the world's largest annual fundraising event and has an atmosphere like no other, with hundreds of the 35,000 participants completing the course in fancy dress.
The course takes you through central London; from Greenwich to The Mall, past the Tower of London, the Houses of Parliament and Buckingham Palace. It's lined with cheering supporters and entertainers to keep you going - and we promise you our Shelter cheering team will be out in force!
