‘When we were homeless, we just couldn’t have any kind of routine’
When his relationship broke down, Stewart and his son and daughter were made homeless.
So the children could have somewhere to sleep at night Stewart ferried them between family and friends. Stewart slept outside in the car. For seven months.
He was at rock-bottom, struggling to balance full-time work, with ensuring his children had a safe place to sleep each night. Until he heard about Shelter.
We went straight to work, helping Stewart secure immediate emergency accommodation. And, thanks to the help of our adviser, Ian, within two weeks Stewart and his family had a place of their own to call home.
‘We have a base… we’re altogether and I can be a dad to them now’.
There are thousands more families out there like Stewart’s, trapped in the spiral of homelessness. We can help them, but only with your support.
‘Ever since I phoned Shelter it’s just kept moving forward.’
We strive every day to give people the help they need, and we campaign relentlessly to achieve our vision of a safe, secure, affordable home for everyone.
