How to claim housing benefit

Housing benefit can help with rent and some service charges if you're on a low income.

It won't usually pay all your rent – you'll have to make up any shortfall out of other income. You could also apply for a discretionary housing payment.

In some areas, you'll have to claim universal credit instead of housing benefit. Check if you're in a universal credit area on entitledto and find out more about making a claim.
