Use of a solicitor or conveyancer

This content applies to England & Wales

When to consider using a solicitor or licensed conveyancer when buying a mobile home, and how much these services might cost.

It is not always necessary to employ a solicitor or licensed conveyancer when buying a mobile home, but in some circumstances, it may be advisable for a prospective buyer to take advice:

  • where it is not certain that the Mobile Homes Act 1983 applies
  • where the meaning of the written agreement is not clear.

The cost of professional help is likely to be approximately 0.5 per cent of the purchase price. The page on the Cost of buying a home in the section on buying a home contains more information about solicitors' fees.
