Housing benefit

Rental purchasers' eligibility for housing benefit.

Payments under an rental purchase agreement (or any purchase agreement where there is more than one instalment and where completion is deferred) qualify as 'rent' for the purpose of the occupier qualifying for housing benefit,[1] but because many properties under rental purchase are offered at inflated prices the amount of housing benefit paid is likely to be restricted.
