Ways in which decisions can be made as to who stays in the home in the long term.

Once it is clear that the relationship is definitely over, the parties will usually want to settle things finally, which may involve transferring the tenancy from one partner to the other. There are a number of long-term solutions: some are based on housing law and do not involve the courts, others are based on family law and involve applications to the court.
