Thank you and well done to Shelter’s 2013 London Marathon runners.

This year saw 204 runners representing Shelter in the Virgin London Marathon. Participants included the usual mix of pro-athletes, amateurs and obligatory fancy dress characters.

And, once again, Shelter supporters were standing on the sidelines cheering them along every (weary) step of the 26.2 mile course.

Our brave runners weren’t just participating for the sheer fun of it – they were raising funds for our work in supporting families struggling with homelessness or bad housing. This year they’re on track to raise £470,000.

Tracy Griffin, Head of Fundraising at Shelter said:

‘I’d like to offer my heartfelt thanks to every runner that represented us in this year’s London Marathon. We’re proud of their individual – and collective – achievement in completing the gruelling 26.2 mile course and raising funds towards Shelter’s efforts.

‘Our services are needed now more than ever, and the efforts of our marathon runners go a long way to providing the support homeless and badly housed people receive through Shelter’s work.’
