Festival chic from Shelter

Jamie Winstone

Jamie Winstone (pictured), Lauren Laverne, The Ting Tings and many more have pledged to show their support for Shelter by wearing one of our limited edition t-shirts at Glastonbury this year.

The t-shirts, which feature a classic picture of John Peel, celebrate the DJ's legacy and his life-long support for Shelter. They are created by organic, Soil Association-approved fashion label Komodo.

They have already attracted the attention of Vogue magazine, so grab one while you can. A limited number of them are on sale:

  • at the Shelter stand in the John Peel Field at Glastonbury
  • in Rough Trade record stores across London
  • from www.roughtrade.com

The image on the t-shirts is inspired by Simon Danby's iconic photo portrait of Peel, taken in the late sixties at the start of the DJ’s BBC career. They also feature his catchphrase ‘Great Band, Great Session’ used to launch the careers of many acts that went on to play to thousands at Glastonbury – among them Pulp, The White Stripes and David Bowie.

All profits from the sales of the t-shirts will be donated to Shelter to support our work with people in housing need in these challenging times.

Martha Hannan, Shelter's Head of Campaigns said 'We have really enjoyed working with Komodo on this t-shirt collaboration, not only is it a fantastic product, it is also a great way to recognize the legend that was John Peel and the dedication he bestowed to Shelter over so many years.'

For the second year running, Shelter is the official charity of the John Peel Field. If you're going to Glastonbury, drop by the field to say hello to us - we'd love to see you (especially if you’re sporting a John Peel t-shirt!)
