Goods donated

Shelter's Homeless to Home projects in Nottingham, Bristol, Sheffield and Birmingham help homeless families making the transition into permanent housing. Since 2000, they have been benefiting from goods donated by housewares manufacturers.

Set up by leading housewares trade publication Progressive Housewares, the scheme gives families the basic goods they need to get settled into their new homes. In the last nine years, the value of gifts donated has amounted to well over £50,000. In addition, more than £19,000 has been raised by the annual charity raffle at the Excellence in Housewares awards dinner.

Shelter client Mandy, who was given a range of items to help her family get established, said: 'We had very little and the kitchenware we have received from them has really helped us settle in our new home.'
