Here you can find answers to some of the most common queries we get asked about the Shelter Lottery. If you can't find the answer you're looking for, then please get in touch.

  1. What is Shelter’s Weekly lottery?

Shelter has partnered with Unity Lottery, the nation’s charity lottery, to offer you the chance to win up to £25,000 every Saturday for only £1 a week. From every £1 you play, 50p is guaranteed to go straight towards Shelter’s vital work. The remaining 50p will be used to provide prizes and cover administration costs.

  2. How your support helps

When you play the Shelter Lottery, you’re helping us raise the essential funds we need to continue our vital working – supporting thousands of families facing bad housing and homelessness. Your donations make a difference:

    • £5 could pay for a webchat
    • £10 could pay for a call to our helpline
    • £15 could help pay for a face-to-face advice session
  3. How does the lottery work?

Each week your personal six-digit lottery number (issued by Unity Lottery when you sign-up) is entered into a draw and the winning numbers are chosen at random.

You can purchase as many numbers as you wish for £1 each, giving you even more chances to win a number of great prizes.

Any prizes you win are issued and posted directly to you; there's no need for you to claim.

You can cancel at any time if you don’t want to remain in the draw.

  4. How to enter

You can enter as many times as you like for only £1 per entry and you can pay by Direct Debit or cheque.

Start playing by signing up online or by completing an application form and returning it to:

  5. Who can enter?
