If you are a council or housing association tenant, you may be able to apply for a transfer within your current landlord’s area. Alternatively, you may be able to exchange homes with another council or housing association tenant anywhere in the UK.
Provided you are eligible, it's a good idea to apply for both options to increase your chances of getting an offer. If you are a housing association tenant, check with your landlord that you do have the right to transfer or exchange before applying. There may be some restrictions.
