If you don't have money for essential things that you need for your home, you might be able to get a loan (which you have to pay back) or grant (which you don't) from the social fund.
It may help if an agency such as an advice centre, a social worker or a probation officer puts your name forward. Use our directory to find agencies in your area. Many local Shelter services have advisers specialising in welfare rights issues as well as housing issues.
Budgeting loans
Interest-free budgeting loans can be used to spread the cost of things you need but can't afford.
