Help to pay for a rent increase
You can usually get universal credit (UC) to help with rent if you're:
working age
on a low income
You could get housing benefit if you're pension age.

Discretionary housing payments (DHPs)
Apply for DHPs from your council if you get benefits but cannot afford a rent increase.
