Shelter statement in response to the Review of fundraising self-regulation
23 September 2015
Shelter statement in response to the Review of fundraising self-regulation, a government-commissioned report following a cross party review into charity fundraising practises chaired by Sir Stuart Etherington, chief executive of National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO).
The review recommends the establishment of a new fundraising regulator with increased powers and the introduction of an easy way for the public to stop unwanted fundraising communication from charities.
Campbell Robb, Shelter chief executive, said: 'We support these recommendations which are proportionate and sensible.
'They should both simplify and strengthen regulation, and provide more support for charities striving for the highest quality standards and total respect for donors at all times.
'At Shelter, we're committed to doing everything we can to ensure our supporters continue to have confidence in how we fundraise, and the vital difference their donations make to our work.'
