Research: Renters at Risk

Over 149,000 rented homes across England were put at risk of eviction in the last twelve months. We estimate that 352,900 renters in England were put at risk of losing their home during that period. Consultation response: Pay to Stay

The Government has decided that social housing tenants with household incomes of £40,000 and above in London, and £30,000 and above in the rest of England, will be required to pay an increased level of rent for their accommodation if their rent is currently set at below market rent levels. Shelter is concerned that these proposals will have serious consequences for social renters on these incomes. Read summary and download
