Help families and children find a safe and secure home
Nearly half of families with school-aged children living in temporary accommodation say they have had to move their child to a different school. And 52% reported that their child had missed days of school.
This is because 30% of temporary accommodation is out of the local area and people are often moved at short notice. This can cause a huge disruption to children’s education, job security, and family life.
Temporary accommodation is not a home. It can often mean:
families not knowing where they will be living from one week to the next
living in one room in cramped conditions sharing one bed between multiple people
being accommodated so far away, it's a struggle to get to school and work on time
families are disconnected from their friends, family, and support network
living in terrible conditions for months to years
This is traumatising children and damaging their health.
