Good Work is a programme being delivered by South Yorkshire Housing Association (SYHA) and partners to provide an integrated, person-centred employment service for people with physical and mental health conditions, learning disabilities, and multiple needs.
The programme is delivered across the Barnsley, Derbyshire, Doncaster, Rotherham, Chesterfield, Killamarsh, and Sheffield areas. The service is based on Individual Placement Support, a ‘place then train’ supported employment model.
Our Work and Enterprise coaches are integrated within health services that help the most disadvantaged. Coaches champion employment with those we support, engage with employers across the region, and join up both health and employment systems for better-coordinated services.
Good Work is funded by the European Social Fund and The National Lottery Community Fund. Since 2017, the programme has worked with almost 700 people, achieving excellent outcomes and exceeding targets. Outcomes include clients gaining sustained employment (30%), job searching (19%), and taking part in vocational education or training (17%). Clients have also reported significant improvements in their confidence, wellbeing, and life satisfaction.
