100-100s fundraising challenge
- Date: Any time
- Registration fee: Free
- Fundraising pledge: Teams should aim to make £300 back from the £100 seed fund that Shelter provides
Do your pupils have an idea that can turn £100 into £300, or even more? Let them put it to the test and help raise funds for fairer housing.
100-100s is an entrepreneurial fundraising challenge for school pupils. It can help develop their problem-solving and decision-making skills, while raising funds to support people affected by the housing emergency.
How it works
schools can enter up to five teams
each team will be given £100 seed fund from Shelter
each team will need to develop a business plan or fundraising activity to increase their fund as much as they can, raising a minimum of £300
All fundraising and entrepreneurial ideas are welcome. We encourage students to get as creative as possible!
If you have multiple teams taking part, you can create a bit of healthy competition between the teams. You could acknowledge the team with the most creative idea, the team that raises the most money, or the team that has the best community involvement.
Support we can provide to your school
Once you've registered your school, we will put you in touch with your local community fundraiser who will get you up and running with the project.
Our community fundraiser can run a kick-off meeting and brainstorming session with the students. We can either do this in person, if there is a fundraiser local to your school, or online.
We will be on hand to offer as much support as we can throughout the challenge, we are just an email or a phone call away.
Pupil benefits of taking part in 100-100s
This activity will offer young people a valuable opportunity to develop a wide range of skills that are essential for success in both personal and professional life.
Here are some of the key skills that can be honed through this challenge:
entrepreneurial skills such as problem solving, critical thinking, decision-making and creativity. It encourages young people to identify challenges, consider risks and think outside the box to come up with creative ways to turn £100 into hundreds of pounds!
fundraising skills such as networking, communication, public speaking and negotiation. They will need to build good relationships with each other and potential donors, confidently and engagingly conveying the importance of the cause.
soft skills such as teamwork, leadership, time management and resilience. It takes each member of a team to work effectively together, guiding and motivating each other to reach their goals.
