IKEA and Shelter are aiming to help over half a million people by 2030

In October 2022, IKEA announced a new long-term partnership with Shelter.

IKEA will work with us to create systemic change that addresses the housing emergency in the UK, calling on the government to build 90,000 social homes a year by 2030. The partnership advocates for half a million people impacted by the housing emergency to have a better life at home. Because we share the belief that 'Home is Everything'.

Together we will launch a series of initiatives to help those affected by the housing emergency in IKEA's local communities and beyond, increasing access to support and opportunities.

These initiatives include training for IKEA co-workers to become 'Housing Navigator Champions'. Trained champions will help people in precarious housing situations to understand their rights and keep hold of their homes.

IKEA will also fund housing rights workers in Shelter advice hubs. The initiative aims to reach people who need housing help before they reach crisis point, allowing Shelter to be more strategic in our aims to end the housing emergency.
