Help people find a way out of homelessness

Thousands of people will be sleeping on the streets this winter

  • over 4,600 people sleep rough on a given night in England

  • the number of people sleeping rough in England has more than doubled since 2010

  • a failure to invest in genuinely affordable social rent homes, and a lack of rights to emergency accommodation, are resulting in a growing number of people ending up on the streets

Your donation could help us be there when it matters most

When someone reaches out to a Shelter adviser they find someone who will listen, support and fight alongside them for a safe home.

Your donation today could:

  • answer an emergency call from a someone facing the fear and uncertainty of homelessness

  • make sure that everyone facing homelessness understands their rights

  • empower more people with the tools, emotional support, and legal knowledge to fight for a safe place to live

  • continue pushing the government to fix the housing emergency by building more social homes

Your donation this winter could help to provide urgent advice for someone facing homelessness. It could also help us campaign to fix the broken housing system – for good.

Whatever someone's experience of homelessness looks like – whether they are rough sleeping, sofa surfing or stuck in temporary accommodation – it's never a lifestyle choice. No one should have to face homelessness alone.

Your support could help to provide urgent advice for someone facing homelessness when they need it most this winter

FIGHT FOR HOME

We exist to defend the right to a safe home, because home is everything. The fight to end the housing emergency starts here.

How we help

No one needs to face bad housing or homelessness alone. Last year over 5 million people turned to Shelter for advice.

  • 16,721 households received support from our emergency helpline

  • 13,130 households came to our local hubs in England for support

  • 13,700 households who sought help saw a positive change in their housing situation

How you fuel the fight for home
