London legacy event
- The Charterhouse, Charterhouse Square, Barbican, London EC1M 6AN
- 30 September 2025, 10am – 1pm

You're invited to our legacy event at The Charterhouse.
The programme for the event will include:
welcome from your host, our Director of Services Judith Banjoko
hear from someone who Shelter has helped
discussion with our Head of Policy
lunch (optional)
tour of The Charterhouse (optional)
We'll also look to the future, sharing the transformative potential of gifts in wills. These generous gifts help achieve the big change necessary to end the housing emergency.
A local solicitor will be available to discuss the importance of writing a will, and how to include a charity if you wish.
Venue
The Charterhouse has a rich and diverse history dating back to medieval times. In 1611 it became a pioneering charity and still runs as an almshouse today. It's located in Clerkenwell, between Barbican and Smithfield. Residents of the almshouse today are still known as 'Brothers'. This is a historic non-religious term that is no longer used in a gender-specific way.
As part of the event, you can choose to take a guided tour. Enjoy this historic complex of buildings, courtyard gardens and green space, which reflect over 600 years of history.
Lunch
The event will finish at 1pm, then you and your guest(s) have the option to stay for lunch and a tour of The Charterhouse.
