Shelter responds to cladding announcement

Polly Neate, CEO of Shelter, said: “For more than six months Shelter has been calling on the government to step up to the plate, and today the prime minister did.

“It’s great to see the government making good on its promise to give councils and housing associations the help they need to replace unsafe Grenfell-style cladding. The cash injection will be a welcome relief for councils who have been making tough decisions on cutting back in other areas to carry out these essential works, and will go a long way to ensuring the people living in these tower blocks are finally safe.”
