Response: CLG consultation on National Planning Framework

Shelter supports the development of the framework, which will set out the economic and environmental priorities for local planning. We understand, from the Conservative Planning Green Paper: Open Source Planning1, that the framework will include ‘a series of short and focused guidance notes describing how specific aspects of the planning system will operate to deliver the government’s agenda and setting out minimum environmental, architectural, economic and social standards for sustainable development’. The framework will therefore replace all the existing suite of planning policy guidance (PPGs) and Planning Policy Statements (PPSs), including PPS3: Housing, most recently updated in June 2010.
