Response - CLG's Eco towns

Shelter welcomes the opportunity to respond to the Government’s Eco-towns - Living a green future consultation.

Shelter strongly supports the policy of eco-towns as a way of contributing towards meeting the desperate need for more housing, while at the same time acting as exemplars of successful innovation in achieving social and environmental sustainability.

As such, we believe that it is vitally important that the eco-towns programme goes ahead as quickly as possible, but also to ensure that the selected eco-town proposals live up to the highest social and environmental standards.
