Response - Housing Benefit Reform

In 'Building choice & responsibility: a radical agenda for Housing Benefit' the Government set out its agenda for reform for the housing benefit system. In (January 2003) we stated our support for the objectives of creating a simpler and more transparent housing benefit system and increasing choice for housing benefit claimants. 

The response set out Shelter's key concerns and recommendations on:

• the design and implementation of the Pathfinder areas, where the new approach will be piloted

• the key outcomes that should be monitored

• other unresolved issues for future reform.
